Welcome to ART with Mrs G

Hello and thank you for your interest in my art classes. I trained in fine art and design at Warwick University in the UK, achieving a 1st Class Honours Degree, plus an MA in Film and TV. I have over 16 years teaching experience, which includes being Head of Art (and DT) at Secondary and Primary Schools in London, together with ongoing delivery of regional teacher training. I have helped schools to achieve the ArtsMark and Outstanding Oftsed inspections.  I am a passionate artist and teacher and love seeing the next generation inspired and coming up with new ideas, whether that is in class face to face, or via teaching online.  I always do live demos myself and like to 'have a go' at something new in my sessions.  I regularly attend art school in London myself, to try out new techniques and keep my skills on point.

​As a practising artist I can work in many mediums, but particularly enjoy working in acrylic paint and producing semi-abstract canvases .  My record of the Covid-19 pandemic is in the Museum of London Covid collection. I accept commissions for artwork and have enjoyed a number of exhibitions in Kent and London. I have undertaken commissions from The National Trust and Royal British Legion and love painting field poppies and landscapes.

 

Prior to teaching I worked in a creative new media think tank, new media business development, international conferencing, advertising, educational policy and partnerships at BBC Factual and Learning.  I have travelled widely and worked overseas. Consequently, I bring a wide skillset and knowledge base to any creative projects I am invited to work on.
