FAQs

Where are classes held?

They are largely held in The Hub training centre (for adults) or in classrooms (children) within Warren Road Primary School, Orpington, Kent BR6 6JF.  You can park very nearby on Warren Road outside the school.  Special events are also held in other local community venues.  â€‹â€‹â€‹

What are the arrival, drop-off and collection details?
Please arrive 5 minutes early so we can register and get settled in class on time.

For all classes and clubs please buzz in at the Warren Road entrance gate (if it sticks in the rain, call and we will come and open it). Adults attending evening classes should proceed around to the RHS to the HUB training centre.  Parents bringing children to art classes should bring pupils in to the main reception at Warren Road entrance, where Mrs G will collect and return children (holiday clubs tend to be in a Y3 room, ASC rooms vary).  Year 6 children, if agreed with the parent/carer, may arrive independently.

What happens I am late?

Late comers may have to call Mrs G and wait for help/collection, or they can  be admitted by Beyond after school club and make their way to class themselves if they know the way already.  Please note that childcare fees of £8 per 15mins may apply after 15 minutes late for collection.    Please call Mrs G on 07584 604298 if you are late or have a problem attending a lesson.

What clothing should be worn in art classes?

Pupils should wear comfy clothes and shoes that they don’t mind possibly getting a bit dirty, and a protective art apron - which are also available in class.

Do I need to bring a carry case or any art resources?

On art courses, adults are provided with a clear portfolio case and all art materials needed. Children at ASCs can use their own standard plastic bag to carry artwork back home when completed, but they too with have aprongs and resources provided. A3 and A2 portfolio cases can be purchased from Mrs G .

Do I need to bring a snack or drink?

Please bring a bottle of water.  Children may want a tiny quick snack at the start of their ASC. Given the limited time in sessions, there are no official breaks scheduled.

How are different age groups and abilities catered for?

In the children's classes, younger children are encouraged to sit at the front of class to receive extra support, and older children are often sat together to receive extension tasks and guidance. Siblings often sit together helping each other too. The focus will always be on encouraging freedom of expression, creativity and choice, in a fun, relaxed atmosphere.

In adult sessions the teacher will assess ability during initial activities and go around providing support or extension accordingly.
